Carbohydrate are compounds of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Every human being require maximum amount of carbohydrate in his/her diet. Daliy requirement of carbohydrate for an adult is about 500 g. carbohydrate digestion start in mouth with the help of chewing and salivary amylase in combination of mechanical and chemical action. while the process take place in small intestine. Because amylase enzyme does not work in stomach due to acidic conditions. Thats why stomach cannot digest carbohydrate....

as we know the digestion of carbohydrate starts from mouth with the help of salivary amylase.
In stomach amylase is not present and instead of it pepsin and rennin are present which are responsible for the digestion of protein.
so, carbohydrate did not digest in stomach.
