the relative atomic masses of all elements hve been found with respect to an atom of carbon -12.unlike oxygen it doesn,t react with all elements 2 form compounds . .and unlike hydrogen ,the masses of other elements didn't come out to be fractional...........so...........it is taken as rmu

its amu not rmu..

- Unlike oxygen and hydrogen, which exhibit various isotopes in higher proportions, carbon-12 is the single most abundant (98% of available carbon) isotope of carbon.
- It is also very stable.
- Hence, it makes more accurate unit of measuring mass and is used to define atomic mass unit.
