Why carbon can remove oxygen from copper oxide but not from calcium oxide

Bcoz in carbon and copper oxide solution carbon is more reactive then oxygen in the copper oxide solution that's why it replaces the oxygen from the solution.
But in carbon and calcium oxide solution it is uncapable bcoz here carbon is less reactive..
