Carbon compounds are covalent compounds. They form covalent bonds and do not give rise to any ions.

Ions are necessary for conduction of electricity and because carbon compounds do not give rise to ions, they do not conduct electricity.

Hope this helps!

lalitc2502: what about graphite?
navneet3190: graphite doesn't use all electron to make bond so they have always free electron for conduction of electricity
lalitc2502: What I mean is that it does conduct electricity even if it is a carbon compound
lalitc2502: Sorry never mind, graphite is an allotrope of carbon not a compound

Carbon compound are made up of covalent bond due to which it doesn't conduct electricity

praanya: tu bhi aagaya brainly par kiya navneet
lalitc2502: But graphite conducts electricity because of the free electricity right?
praanya: yes
