Answer:

Explanation:

since it has  4 electrons in the outermost orbit

in order to obtain octect it must have eight electrons in the outermost orbit

but if it gains 4 electrons it would have total 10 electons . so

it would be difficult to to hold 10 electrons with 6 protons

if it loses 4 electron it would require a lot of energy and it would have 6 protons and just 2 electrons which needs more energy

so thus they form covalent bond and ionic bonds

Answer:

Here's ur answer

Carbon form ionic bond because it has 4 Valence electrons half of an octet. To form ionic bonds Carbon Molecules must either gain or loose 4 electrons. The ionization energy of the atom is too large and the electron affinity of the atom is too small for ionic bonds to occur.
