why carbon formed covalent bonds

A carbon atom has four electrons in its outermost valence shell. So, it needs four more electrons to complete its octet. A carbon atom completes its octet only by sharing its valence electrons with other atoms. As a result, a carbon atom forms four covalent bonds by sharing valence electrons with other atoms.

In short , the entire living kingdom is made from carbon. Carbon is the basic ingredient of our body.

First of all, What's Covalent Bond??

✔️The chemical Bond formed by the sharing of two valence electrons between two atoms is called Covalent Bond.

✔️The Covalent Bond between two carbon atoms is strong and therefore stable.
Carbon is bestowed with catenation power due to the strong and stable covalent bonds.

✔️One, Two Or Three Covalent Bonds can together Bond two carbon atoms. These bonds are Single covalent bonds, double covalent bonds and triple covalent bonds.

✔️Hence, Carbon only forms covalent bonds with carbon or any other because carbon needs four electrons it cannot lose four electrons.

✔️To gain stability, it should lose its valence electrons, gain four more electrons or share its 4 valence electrons with other atoms. 

✔️It can't lose electrons because of the following reason..

✔️We know that, Carbon has 4 Valence electrons in its outer electron shell.

✔️Hence, Losing or gaining 4 electrons is tough because of the higher electrostatic force between them.
Thus, it shares electrons than losing or gaining it.
