Answer:

The percentage of Carbon in Gray cast iron is 3–4% carbon and is in the graphite flake form and thats why it is grey in color. The hardness and brittleness is high in Gray CI. It has good compressive strength but weak tensile strength. In Iron carbide diagram the phase of Gray CI is after 1.2% carbon the ferrite decreases and cementite phase increase with increase carbon percentage.

High carbon steel contains 1.2% carbon upto.mostly used for machining purposes. HSS steel is a high carbon steel.

Low carbon steel contains 0.8–1% carbon. Also called mild steel. Used widely. As ductility is more but stiffness is less which limits its uses.

Pig iron is the first product that is obtained from smelting and roasting of iron ore hametite. Pig iron is crude form of iron and doesn't contain any percentge of carbon in it. Very less uses.

Wrought iron is the purest form of iron formed from pig iron. It is very hard and brittle. It cant be cast into moulds and it lacks fluidity property. Very less or neligliglible amount of carbon in it
