hey mate here your answer
_____________________________
carbon is an element that is non metal the electronic configuration 2,4 the valence cell contain 4 electron which is its velency carbon does not donate and except electron so it is only shares electron the bonding take place in the case of carbon iscovalent bond
carbon is called tetravalent because the valency is 4

ANSWER......
☛ A carbon atom has been no tendency to lose its four valence electrons or gain four more electrons from other atoms.
Therefore, carbon atom completes its octet only by SHARING ITS VALENCE ELECTRON with each other atoms.
As a result, therefore, carbon always forms only covalent bond with other atoms.
