why carbon12 only is used as standard? why cant all the elements be taken as standard?

Generally all standards are determined by the IUPAC system know. International union of pure and applied chemistry. IUPAC chose carbon 12 as the standard because it is a naturally occurring abundant solid and can easily form a lot of compounds with other elements. It is extremely stable too. Because of these unique properties, it is chosen as standard.
