Why carboxylic acids do not give reactions of carbonyl group??

The carbonyl group in carboxylic acid is not true because it consists aldehydes and ketones. Hence, carboxylic acid does not give right characteristic reactions of carbonyl group.

It also do not form oximes, hydra zones and so on.

This is because the lone pairs on oxygen atom could be attached to hydrogen atom in the COOH group and involved in making carbon atom less electrophilic.
