Why carburetor is known as lung of petrol engine?

Carburetor is responsible of give fuel in correct amount to engine just like lungs takes oxygen and give the right to body... Carburetor is called lungs of petrol engine because it is responsible for providing the air-to-fuel mixture for the combustion process in the engine.
