Why carnivores are important for environment?

If all the carnivore are eliminated from environment then the level of herbivore will increase and and they will eat all the grass and vegetables and then the ultimate thing will happen..... that all the animals will die in starvation and the temperature of earth will also increase and then the environment will destroyed and finally our planet will convert into a planet of carbon dioxide
