Explanation:
Question 2. Why did social reformers target caste system only?
The post-social reformers targeted the caste system because the caste system itself had done great damage to the unity of the society and the country. Due to caste system, the upper castes treated the lower castes very badly. They were not allowed to fetch water from public wells and ponds. They were allowed to visit temples and attend religious ceremonies in the new 921 AD. The lower castes were considered untouchables. If ever two shadows of a lower caste man fell on a higher caste man, he would be beaten to death. The lower caste people were forced to be welded by the weld reformers for garbage, cleaning, tanning, skinning of dead animals, etc. To eliminate these discriminations, social reformers targeted caste system.
Why caste system was targeted by social reformers?
Just after the independence when India was moving on the path of the development, then the people of the lower caste was left behind.
And the social reformers know this fact that without the people of India, our country is nothing. They believe in giving the opportunity to all. And that was quite impossible to implement this on the large scale on the basis of the thinking of the individual.
So the social reformers targeted to the backward peoples and gave them an equal opportunity in the public with upper caste people.
One of the main reason for taking them forward is that they were very large in population and even after capable to beat with others, they were not allowed just because of their caste.
B.R. Ambedkar was the first who implemented the reservation system on the basis of caste.
