Why caterpillars need to shed their skin when they grow bigger in size but humans do not?

The skin of caterpillars never grows. As their body grows, they have to move out of their skin because it becomes too tight for them. This process takes place 3 to 5 times in caterpillars till they are fully grown. In humans, skin cells also grow with the body. Only shedding of dead skin takes place in humans.
