why Ccl4 cannot be hydrolysed but Sicl4 can be hydrolysed?

central atom of CCl4 is C which have no vacant d orbitals.

but SiCl4 have central atom is Si which have vacant d orbital.

so water (H2O) attack to othe vacant d orbital of SiCl4 and hence

SiCl4 is hydrolyzed.

SiCl4 + 4 H2O ................> Si(OH)4 + 4 HCl
