why central Maharashtra receive little rainfall

This is because it is located on the leeward side of Western Ghats. ... This obstructs their flow and hence the windward side gets the normal rainfall. As the winds cross the Western Ghats area, it gets drier and therefore central Maharashtra receives scanty rainfall.
