Diffusion is process in which particles of different substance mix with each other.
That's like,
A man of 40 kg run faster than 60 kg in case of equal energy. (generally type used example)......
Same as if we see molecular mass of CH4 and N2:
Molecular mass of CH4 = atomic mass of Carbon + 4*atomic mass of Hydrogen
= 12u + 4u = 16u.
And
Molecular mass of N2 = 2* atomic mass of Nitrogen
= 2* 14u = 28u.
Hence molecular mass of N2> molecular mass of CH4.
This is the reason due to which CH4 diffuse more or faster than N2.
