Explanation:
The ratio is constant .
Initially when experiments were conducted to find out the ratio,neutrons were yet to be discovered. So people mistook the positive particle produced in the experiments to be Protons exclusively. Now we know that the positive particle which is nothing but nuclei of atoms composed of not only protons but neutrons TOO.
So for different gases their corresponding nuclei will have different number of neutrons so the ratio turns out to be different.
But this is the ratio for that nuclei. We should not confuse it with the ratio for protons.
