Chlorine gas acts as a disinfectant and so they are passed through treated sewage. This disinfectant is used in water for treating plants as well. The levels of traces which are discharged from sewage pipes are flown out of the waterways. This is also as per scientists new ways in which new antibiotics can be formed.
