Why chlorophyll is needed for photosynthesis

Chlorophyll is needed for photosynthesis because it contains chloroplast which traps sunlight from the sun which is needed to complete the process of Photosynthesis.

The green pigment is what allows plants to absorb energy from light. Plants use the energy to make sugars and oxygen during photosynthesis. Chlorophyll molecules are embedded in plant cells in complexes called photosystems which are proteins that channel light energy into the process of photosynthesis.
