Why chloroplast is called the organelle of energy conversion?

because chloroplast contains chlorophyll which captures sunlight and convert it into chemical energy.

Chloroplast is an energy converting organelle because as we know ,chloroplast contains chlorophyll and due to chlorophyll plants are green ,and it is responsible for photosynthesis to occur and so,plants can convert sunlight into chemical energy.plants can not create energy without it .
