Hey there!!!!!
They are called Energy converters because they absorb Sunlight i.e.Heat Energy and then that Sunlight is used by the plants to make food i. e. Glucose C6H12O6.

chloroplast contain the green pigment chlorophyll which absorbs radiant energy from the sun & converts it to potential energy..
