1. Chromium has a shiny appearance.
2. It does not corrode.
3. It resists scratches.
4. However it is expensive so it is not economical to maje the whole object out of chromium so a plating of chromium is done on less expensive metal.
chromium is an expensive, hard and shiny metal. only a thin layer of chromium is electroplated over the other metal like iron to make handle bars of bicycle, wheel rim, etc,. they are used as they resist scratches and prevent corrosion when electroplated by chromium. it is very useful but very expensive
