Why ClF3 exists but FCl3 does not?​

Answer: Fluorine is different from the rest of the halogens due to the absence of d orbitals in their outer shells. So they cannot accommodate two more chlorine atoms. But chlorine has a vacant 3d in that it accomodates the fluorine.
