why clinical thermometer is cleaned from bulb to stem before giving to patient and from stem to bulb after use?​

Reason for this is that you want to wipe down the bulb with a clean wipe uncontaminated with bacteria picked up as u wiped stem.so u start from the bulb.AFter usethe  bulb is the most likely surface to be contaminated so u wipe it last.
