because when we inhale CO it gets into our bloodstream and the hemoglobin in our body is more reactive towards CO and prefers CO over oxygen.
when this CO gets into our blood stream the hemoglobin attaches itself to the CO molecules instead of the oxygen molecules and travels the bloodstream carrying this CO throughout our body leaving oxygen behind....this leads to the body not getting oxygen for for it's cells and our body starts to slowly suffocate and die due to lack of oxygen.
