Coal is formed by the accumulation of vegetative matter which got converted due to high heat and pressure inside earth.
The process of formation of coal is way too slower than its rate of consumption. So if we will continue to use coal like this it will one day exhaust.
Sunlight on the other hand is produced abundantly and rapidly by the sun and it will continue to do so for the next thousands of year so it will never get exhausted.
