why coastal plains have more population

The population density of North Indian Plains is more as compared to other regions mainly for the below mentioned reason:

1. Availability Of Water

The northern plains of India have many rivers as well as streams. These water bodies make water available easily which is essential for living. Many of these rivers are perennial and they make water available throughout the year and are a regular source of freshwater.

2. Fertile Soil

The soil of northern plains are alluvial soil so they are very fertile and fit for cultivating food. This fertile soil is brought by certain rivers. Hence this soil is highly productive and fit for large population of people.

3. Economic Benefits

Settling in a place of fertile soil is someway or the other very beneficial economically. So people started settling in huge number in northern plains as it has a very fertile soil.

4. Large Flat Area

There is a huge are of flat land in the northern India which is why the area is named Northern Plains. Flat land is fit for settling down and attract huge number of people for settlement.
