Why coffee runs up into a sugar lump when one corner of the sugar lump is held in the liquid?

it is due to the fact that sugar lump has many tiny holes in it and...
the adhesion forces btw coffee and sugar is more than the cohesion forces btw coffee molecules...
and hence COFFEE RUNS UP IN SUGAR LUMP DUE TO THE CAPILARITY....ACTION.....
