HI

At sunrise/sunset the sun is near the horizon and so the light of the sun has to travel a greater distance through the atmosphere. The particles present in the atmosphere scatter away the blue light and shorter wavelengths. Therefore, the remaining light of longer wavelengths reaches our eyes. Hence, the sun appears red at sunrise and sunset.
