The reason is the dispersion of light and formation of spectrum.
The white light is made up of 7 colours. Those that I've mentioned. When the sunlight passes through the water droplets, the white light is dispersed into the 7 colours. This band is called spectrum. Thus rainbow is observed. Hope you like it.
