Common salt is mainly added to the neat soap after the saponification reaction when the soap is washed with NaCl or brine solution in order to separate glycerin. It is mainly added for precipitation to separate it from the aqueous solution. Salt is also used in order to separate glycerol from the water. This process is called Salting out of Soap.

Hope it helps!!!
