Answer:
There are a few factors of conductance they are :
- Concentration of Ions
- Nature of Electrolyte
- Temperature
Explanation:
First, let us begin with understanding what is conductance, it is electrolytes that are good conductors of electricity. Strong acids and strong electrolytes are good conductors of electricity a few examples are :
- Hydrochloric Acid - HCL
- Hydrogen Bromide - HBr
- Nitric Acid - HNO3
- Sulphuric Acid - H2SO4
Secondly, let us understand the factors that affect conductance :
- Concentration of Ions - An electrolyte can only be a good conductor due to its ions. The conductance is directly proportional to the concentration of the ions. This will be because as the charge increases the concentration increases and in the end, so does the conductivity increase.
- Nature of electrolyte - The nature affects the conductance by how much the electrolytes dissociate this also determines the concentration of the ions. This comes back to the point above showing that strong electrolytes are better conductors.
- Temperature - The temperature affects the conductance because it affects the dissociating property of an electrolyte. A higher temperature is always better because the atoms are vibrating faster thus increasing the dissociation and thus increasing the conductivity.
