conduction of heat doesnot take place in gases because the molecular arrangement in gases are very loosely packed so there is no place for the conduction of heat whereas in the solids and liquid the molecular arrangement are tightly packed in solids and slight tightly packed in liquids which enables the conductivity of heat whereas this doesnot occur in gases.

because the intermolecular spaces between particals is very large and hence conduction can't take place rather heat is transferred by convection.

hope it will help u.
