why conservation of water is more required today than in the time of our ancestors?

because the water become very shortage nowadays and we also want to preserve water for our feature citizens at the time of our ancestors there is no any shortage of water and water was very clean but now the now the water become very pollutant and there is only few amount of fresh water in our earth so we want to conserva water more today then in the time of our ancestors
