Why cooling effect of ice at zero degree celsius is more than the amount of water at 0 degree celsius?

same mass of both ice and water at 0 degree celcius each will have difference in their cooling effect because first ice must be converted to water .....it requires 336 J of heat energy to melt 1g of ice at 0 degree celcius to 1 g of water at 0 degree celcius.....so ice has more cooling effect than water at 0 degree celcius.....
