We determined any sample of

Copper sulphate by their blue colour which comes out due to presence of water of crystallization (that 5 water molecule)

As we know that the water of crystallization is responsible for the colour of any compound

So according to your question the 5 water molecule is present in copper sulphate so as to give their blue colour.

Answer:

In CuSO4.5H2O, Cu is cordinated with 4 water molecules and two more oxygen atoms fron Sulphate ion. Now fifth water molecule is hydrogen bonded and is deeply embedded in crystal. It is not cordinated. ... Copper sulfate pentahydrate contains copper(II) in a geometry best described as distorted octahedral.
