The induced current always flows in a direction so that it opposes the cause or the change in a direction it. For example, as shown in fig. 1.68, when the magnet is dropped through the copper ring, the induced current flows in the ring in clockwise direction (when seen from above), till the magnet does not come out of the ring from the other side. But as soon as the magnet leaves the ring, the direction of the current will become anticlockwise in according with Lenz's law. It shows that an induced current has no direction of its own.
