why crystallisation method is considered better than the simple distillation method

would like to properly understand the difference between
crystallization and distillation. When considering both of them at a
glance, it seems that they both separate solute and solvent by
evaporation of the solvent. Obviously distillation goes further since
after vaporization of the solvent, the solvent is then transformed back
to liquid form via condensation and recovered.
But how is the first step of distillation different from what happens during crystallization? Is it that in the case of crystallization, the solvent reaches the gaseous state without being boiled off, whereas with distillation it gets boiled off?
But, distillation doesn't truly require boiling off the solvent does it? So if that's true, then once again, what is the difference between the way the solvent reaches gaseous form in crystallization and the way it does during distillation?
