Why cuprous compounds are colourless while cupric compounds are coloured explain?

Cu is the transition metal. And the transition metal ions which contain partially filled d-orbitals are usually colouredwhich is due to the colour of the transmitted light. ... Now as its d-orbital is completely filled it is colourless because it doesn't contain any electrons which can absorb light.
