D-block elements are called transition elements because they show variable valencies from coloured ions, para magnetism, and also used as catalysts.

More about d-block elements

  • Differentiating electron enters into inner d orbitals (n-1)d subshell.
  • Also called as transition metals .
  • General electronic configuration (n-1)d¹⁻¹⁰ ns¹⁻² .
  • d – block elements are placed between s – block and p – block elements
  • They all are metals.
