Why D.C Motors are used in A.C generators? Shouldn't an A.C Motor be used in an A.C Generator?

Not really. At least not without VERY extensive re-doing of the connections at the commutator. The problem with a DC motor is that it has its armature mounted on the rotor rather than in the stator. That is needed to make the commutator work as a mechanical rectifier, but is pointless and unnecessary complication for an AC generator, where the armature connections are fixed, so the mechanically more vulnerable armature is mounted in the stator rather than the rotor.
