Jawahar Lal Nehru proudly proclaimed that the ' dams are the temples of modern India '.
As it was felt In that time that any problems can get solved by just constructing the dams. And the main purpose of launching the multipurpose river project in India was to combine development of agriculture and village economy with rapid industrialisation and urbanisation.
