A multipurpose river valley project are taken up not just provide water for irrigation in the present days but to resolve many other needs of a particular region.
A multipurpose river valley project will cover the needs of a region through generating electricity, controlling the flood, encouraging inland navigation, supplying water for domestic and industrial purpose and never the less fish breeding.
That is why the dams that are built in current circumstance are known as Multipurpose River Valley Projects.
