Answer:
When whales get hed ashore a beach and die or when their carcass is washed ashore. When an organism dies its organs start decomposing after its death, this causes gases to build up in their carcasses. The problem with whales is that they're extremely large in size and when their organs decay and gas accumulates in their carcasses it puffs up then explodes.

Answer:
Basically, as the blood circulation and respiration stops in a dead whale, it leads to the decomposition of cells and tissues by the microbes already present in the body, which leads to the further proliferation of bacteria. The thick fat under the whale's skin makes matters even worse .
