Democracy is the "form of government", in which people elect and choose from among themselves, their leader and the various representatives in various positions of administrations. Thus democracy believes in vesting of the power in the hands of the common people, making them powerful enough to make or break the Government. It also frees people from the atrocities that a monarchical rule often subjects on the people.
