Hey there!!! It's not like that Deset Plants do not perform photosynthesis. but It's like that the rate of photosynthesis is slow due to Thick coating on leaves and the less Amount of water.

Desert plants take up Carbon dioxide at night and prepare an intermediate which is acted upon by the energy absorbed by the chlorophyll during the day.
