Why di-tert butyl ether cannot be prepared by williamson synthesis

To prepare di (tert-butyl)ether by Williamson synthesis, we need tert-butyl halide (say bromide) and tert-butoxide (as sodium salt). The later is very strong base simply makes tert-butyl carbonation to undergo deprotonation to yield isobutene as only product.

so we cannot prepare it by williamson synthesis. !
