Why diamond is hard and graphite is soft according to 0th science easy language please?

this is bcoz diamond has a rigid 3D structure and all the carbon atoms are attached to each other.

However in graphite it's not a 3D structure but different layers are joined together weak bonds knows as wanderwald's bond.

This is because diamond's atoms are connected by covalent bonds, but graphite layers are attracted by weak vanderwals forces.(see the structure u will only understand then)

vanderwals forces are electrostatic forces between atoms.(electrostatic forces are those forces between two like or unlike charges)
