Why did Akbar wanted to befriend of Rajputs? What steps did he achieve this?

The Rajputs were a strong dynasty which ruled in the Rajasthan region. Akbar would have severe difficulty in defeating the Rajputs so he went into friendly alliances with the Rajput rulers which ended the long animosity between the Muslim and Hindu rulers.

Akbar took the following steps to befriend the Rajputs:-

• Akbar went into marriage alliances with the Rajput Rulers' daughters: he married Harkha Bai.
• He gave his wives the complete freedom to practice their religion-Hinduism.
• He provided the Rajputs with important positions in his court.
